Plot Synopsis

This film takes the clean government thought of "The Way of Being an Official" in the Qin bamboo slips unearthed from Shuihudi in Yunmeng as the logical main line, constructs a triple cross-time narrative structure of Qin Dynasty, Ming Dynasty and modern times, and tells three stories. In the Qin Dynasty, the scribe Xi (the owner of the Shuihudi tomb) protected the fields of the common people and fought against the powerful with the law. In the Ming Dynasty, Zhang Zhengqing, the assistant county magistrate, impeached corrupt officials at the risk of his life and defended justice with his life. In modern times, Chen Jie, a Party member cadre, adhered to the bottom line of integrity in the face of利益诱惑(应该是“利益诱惑”，但这个词表述有误，可改为“temptations of interests”). It shows that in the long river of history, the clean government culture is passed down from generation to generation like a burning fire, a held torch, and a spreading prairie fire, constantly thriving.
