Plot Synopsis
During the famine years in the 1970s, Yuanbao was taken by his grandmother to the deep mountains to catch wild chickens and was picked up by Meng Lanlan, the outspoken "bad luck star" in the village. In order to adopt Yuanbao, Meng Lanlan drew a clear line from her family with a partial sister-in-law. She lived with Yuanbao in a thatched cottage and met Lu Jinnian, a sickly man. The two overcame numerous difficulties and finally got married. Later, Meng Lanlan got rid of the "bad luck star" curse, and with little koi Yuanbao and Lu Jinnian, she made her life better and better and even became the richest person in the county.
