Plot Synopsis

Huineng was born in Xinzhou, Lingnan in 638 AD. He went through many hardships. He apprenticed himself to a master in Huangmei, Hubei, and then lived with hunters in the remote mountains and forests in Guangdong for fifteen years. Huineng was diligent, upward-looking, good at thinking, and constantly striving for self-improvement. He advocated harmony. He developed from an illiterate woodcutter into an outstanding thinker and philosopher in China, leaving precious wealth in the history of Chinese thought.
