Plot Synopsis

During the glorious era of the Tang Dynasty, Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, Li Longji, indulged in feasting and singing with the young and beautiful Yang Guifei every night, which triggered the strife among the imperial concubines in the harem. Concubine Mei presented Xu Hezi, who had a charming singing voice, to the emperor. The emperor conferred upon her the title of "Singing Concubine". However, Hezi had no intention of enjoying the glory, wealth and honor, and was gloomy all day long. Li Bai, who was as elegant as an immortal, had no chance to display his talents. In his disappointment, he got to know Hezi, who was also in a wretched situation like himself. Li Bai was attracted to Hezi, who was not afraid of the powerful and the noble. He was determined to risk offending the emperor and lent a helping hand to assist Hezi in escaping from the imperial palace.
