Plot Synopsis

Yang Yuhuan, an orphan girl, was taken in by Emperor Xuanzong of Tang who was on a private inspection tour and made the Princess Consort of Shou Wang. Xuanzong regarded Yang Yuhuan as the dearest love in his heart. Nine years later, after going through numerous hardships, Yang Yuhuan finally became the imperial concubine. At the Peony Banquet held by Xuanzong for Yang Yuhuan, Li Bai, her former lover, satirized Yang Yuhuan by comparing her to Zhao Feiyan. Consumed by jealousy, Shou Wang hid a dagger on his person and attempted to assassinate the emperor. To everyone's surprise, Yang Yuhuan threw herself in front of the emperor to take the blow, which deeply moved Emperor Xuanzong.
