Plot Synopsis

Zhang Fugui was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, a young master who had never suffered much since childhood. He was cheerful and smooth-tongued, and was very popular among the villagers with his glib talk. He Xiaochun was Zhang Fugui's childhood playmate and was wholeheartedly in love with him. Although Zhang Fugui didn't have any special feelings for Xiaochun, he kept her by his side all the time because of her competence and diligence to take care of all the household affairs. By chance, Zhang Fugui got to know Fang Rou and her aunt Fang Mei'e. Fang Rou's beauty and gentleness quickly caught Zhang Fugui's attention, and he launched a passionate pursuit of her. However, the snobbish Fang Mei'e looked down on Zhang Fugui's humble origin. In order to win the beauty's heart, Zhang Fugui decided to buy an official position and thus became a county magistrate.
