Plot Synopsis

It tells the story of Yanyan from Vietnam (Ye Liuyu). To avenge the unjust extermination of her family, she returned to the imperial palace disguised as Lady Yu. She advanced step by step and finally supported her adopted son, the Third Prince, to ascend the throne and became the Empress Dowager. Through a series of complex plots and character interactions in the text, it shows the cruelty of the court struggles as well as the wisdom and tenacity of the protagonist. During the process of revenge, Yanyan from Vietnam not only had a battle of wits and courage with Empress Dugu Wan and the forces behind her, but also cleverly utilized various means, including feigning death, taking advantage of the emperor's favor, and drawing on the power of religion and superstition, and finally achieved her goal.
