Plot Synopsis

Jing Mingyue, the daughter of a great Confucian scholar in the State of Chu, her family was exterminated by the king of Chu for the crime of implicating nine generations of relatives. She luckily hid among the refugees and later entered the palace as a maid for Xiao Lü, the hostage. In the hardships they shared, the two gradually developed feelings for each other. She returned to his country with Xiao Lü, full of expectations for marriage, but witnessed him marrying the daughter of a powerful family for the fight for the throne, and even indulged his new wife to bully her in every possible way. In desperation, she set her sights on the crown prince, using her wisdom and herself as chips to seek revenge and escape. The crown prince fulfilled all the promises that had been easily abandoned for her one by one. When Xiao Lü finally came to his senses and regretted deeply, the once humble maid Jing Mingyue had already put on the phoenix crown and embroidered robes, becoming the queen of the crown prince.
