Plot Synopsis

Teacher Chen Rui, who was on a volunteer teaching mission, knelt down in the rain, begging the villagers to lend her money for eye surgery, but got nothing. After the rain stopped, she saw her son Jiang Xi, who had been admitted to Tsinghua University or Peking University, being affectionate with his sweetheart Wang Zhaodi. He even spent the money for the train ticket to go to study in Beijing. In a fit of anger, Chen Rui slapped Jiang Xi, and Jiang Xi tore up the admission notice on the spot, saying that he didn't want to go to university. It turned out that it was all a play by Jiang Xi, just to stay in the village to help his impoverished family in a reasonable way. After being enlightened by Uncle Li, the village head, Jiang Xi understood Chen Rui's good intentions and was determined to come back to repay the village after finishing his studies.
