Plot Synopsis

Pu Songling was simultaneously involved with two peerless beauties, Fu Xueqian and Liu Wuke, but didn't know how to choose. Eventually, the kind-hearted Liu Wuke couldn't bear to see the man she deeply loved in a dilemma and voluntarily withdrew from this love triangle. However, just when Liao Zhai was about to marry Fu Xueqian, it was strongly opposed by Fu Xueqian's father, and thus this marriage plan came to nothing. Liao Zhai decided to set out to look for Liu Wuke, but got lost in the deep mountains. Later, he encountered lonely spirits and female foxes, which led to an entangled and extraordinary encounter between humans and ghosts. Who would have known that it was all just a pipe dream of his. Pu Songling rushed to Jinan to participate in the imperial examination and got acquainted with the scholar Su Jie. Unexpectedly, an accident made Magistrate Liu extremely dissatisfied with him. Meanwhile, Su Jie's sister, Hong Lian, fell in love with the upright and honest Liao Zhai.
