Plot Synopsis

Geda Living Buddha was born into a poor family of Tralpa in Garzê. At the age of five, he was selected as a reincarnation boy by Tibet and enthroned as the Fifth Geda Living Buddha in Bairi Monastery in Garzê, Sichuan Province. At the age of seventeen, he went to Drepung Monastery in Lhasa to study Buddhist scriptures. Through diligent study, he obtained the highest degree in the monastery, the "Geshe" degree, at the age of twenty-four. Then he returned to Kham to "preach" for the poor farmers and herdsmen and believers. He went from avoiding the Red Army to getting to know them, from knowing them to integrating with them, and from integrating with them to helping them. For the unification of the motherland and the peaceful liberation of Tibet, in July 1950, regardless of hardships and dangers, he risked his life traveling to Lhasa to persuade for peace, but was murdered by imperialist elements and pro-imperial forces on the way.
