Jixiang Tavern

Plot Synopsis

In the late Qing Dynasty, there was a "Jixiang Wine Shop" outside the Qianmen in Beijing. The owner was a young widow named Jin Feng, who was in her early twenties, young and beautiful. On this street, there was also a large restaurant called "Xiangmanlou". The manager was the crafty Manager Ha. Seeing that the young widow was alone and weak, he was bent on annexing this wine shop. Under the young widow Jin Feng, there was a young apprentice named Xi Zi, who was nineteen years old and had grown up in the wine shop since childhood. Although he was not old, he had a lot of courage and was full of wily ideas. He dared to "take on" Manager Ha and others and "fight" with them. Manager Ha instigated Elder Qian to play his trump card and got hold of Jin Feng's deed of sale, forcing Jin Feng to remarry someone else. In a moment of desperation, Xi Zi played a "tricky" move, instigating Younger Qian to deal with Elder Qian, staging a wonderful scene of "dog-eat-dog".
