Plot Synopsis

This film tells the story that during the late Qing Dynasty, foreigners ran amok, the government was corrupt and incompetent, and the people were living in dire straits. Driven to revolt by the oppression of the officials, Liu Yongfu and his sworn brother A Fu enthusiastically joined the Guangxi Tiandihui. They moved to the area of Dezhou and continued to severely punish local tyrants, thus having their own troops - the Black Flag Army. Liu Yongfu also led the army to bravely resist the invasion of the French invaders on the borders of Vietnam and China. Good news of victories kept coming, and their reputation was greatly enhanced. The Emperor of Vietnam bestowed upon Liu Yongfu the title of General of a Thousand Households. After bloody battles, they finally defeated the French army in the south. Garnier was killed, and the flag of the Black Flag Army fluttered high on the border of Annam, the southern frontier of the motherland.
