Plot Synopsis

During the Qing Dynasty, Scholar Zhu failed to pass the imperial examination to become the top scorer even after taking it more than ten times. His father was so angry that he died. Feeling wronged, Scholar Zhu hanged himself in a temple and as a result, he couldn't be reincarnated and his soul was attached to the hemp rope he used for suicide. It was the 1980s. On their summer vacation trip, Lin Xiaohua, Lin Qingqing and Yan Ruyu, three high school girls from Hong Kong, encountered a rainstorm. To take shelter from the rain, they broke into the temple where Scholar Zhu had committed suicide. After the rain stopped, Lin Qingqing accidentally brought the hemp rope with Scholar Zhu's soul attached to it into their living quarters in a flurry. At first, it caused a huge misunderstanding. But as they communicated more deeply, they gradually became friends with Scholar Zhu who they could talk to about everything.
