Plot Synopsis

Zhao Dehai sacrificed himself for his wife and children and entered the palace to become a eunuch. His wife died of dystocia, leaving behind a daughter and a keepsake. Eighteen years later, Zhao Dehai became the chief eunuch in charge of the imperial seal and was eager to find his daughter. He met Mingyu, a girl who sold sesame seed cakes, and suspected that she was his biological daughter, but misunderstandings ensued. On the other side, Linlang, the adopted daughter, and her adoptive father Wei Baoping were falsely accused of abducting children, and Mingyu betrayed them by giving false testimony. Linlang and Wei Baoping were imprisoned and faced the death penalty. Zhao Dehai witnessed everything, feeling as if his heart was being cut by a knife, and suspected that Linlang might be his long-lost flesh and blood. A journey of searching for his daughter that spanned eighteen years was about to uncover an astonishing truth.
