Plot Synopsis

Shen Quanfu, a worker in a steel mill, lost his wife in his early years. He had five school-age children at home. The anachronism of the times and the heavy burden of the family made this exhausted man drown his sorrows in alcohol, which eventually damaged his health and left the children behind. Before his father passed away, he exhorted his eldest daughter, Ya Mei, to take good care of her younger siblings. Ya Mei suppressed her grief and grew up overnight. She voluntarily dropped out of school and went to work in the neighborhood, taking care of everything in the daily life of her four siblings, Guo Liang, Guo Yu, Ya Juan, and Lan Lan, including their accommodation and travel. For the sake of her younger siblings, she sacrificed her studies, her love, and even her whole life. This was a life-and-death agreement with her father and also the most sincere guardianship of family affection.
