Plot Synopsis
Shun was a heroic figure in ancient times. Due to his outstanding abilities and the unique charm of his character and personality, he was favored by Tang Yao, the leader of the Huaxia tribe, who married his two daughters, Ehuang and Nüying, to Shun. At that time, floods were rampant across the land and the Four Evildoers were causing chaos. As the regent, Shun executed Gun, who was ineffective in flood control and took the lead in rebelling. Then he appointed Gun's son Yu to continue the task of flood control, and finally subdued the flood disaster and developed the economy. In politics, Shun governed the country with virtue, revised the laws, and established the Five Punishments, which promoted ethnic integration and harmony throughout the land. Eventually, Shun, who had unified the whole country, abdicated the throne to Yu, becoming a great emperor in history and a model of the primitive democratic system.
