Chashuling Village

Plot Synopsis

The story takes place in the rural area of Northeast China, in the village of Chashuling. Chashuling is a place that can drive people crazy. To the south of the village is blocked by Chashuling Hill, to the northwest it is surrounded by the Liujin River, and the large swamp in the east is connected to the Liujin River in the north and to Chashuling Hill in the south. Villagers have to rely on boats to get out of the village in spring, summer and autumn, and on ice in winter. The story begins with the marriage between Ma Chun, the daughter of Ma Padan, and Niu Shuanzhu, the son of Niu Deshui, the deputy village head. Under the impact of the wave of reform, how will the villagers in Chashuling change their fates and move step by step towards a moderately prosperous society...
