Plot Synopsis

At the birthday banquet of his father-in-law Liu Danian, Jiang Bei, the son-in-law living in his wife's family, suffered the meanness of his mother-in-law Li Xiumei and the contempt of relatives. When the proud eldest son-in-law, second son-in-law of his father-in-law and the wealthy ex-boyfriend Li Chengye of his wife Liu Bingyue arrived one after another, Jiang Bei's situation became even worse. The ostentation of Li Chengye was in sharp contrast to the flattering of his岳父母 (should be '岳父母', translated as 'his father-in-law and mother-in-law' here). And Liu Bingyue's appearance in the same car with Li Chengye made Jiang Bei even more heartbroken. After the meal, at the instigation of everyone, a card game in the name of entertainment began. Facing the aggressiveness of Li Chengye and the distrust of Liu Bingyue, Jiang Bei initially firmly refused, but was instead mocked as 'gutless' and 'a spoilsport'.
