Plot Synopsis

In the 47th year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi, Nian Gengyao, who was still a civil official in the Jiangnan area at that time, was in his early thirties. He seized the opportunity and went to the capital city, infiltrating into the clique of the Beile (princes). He could choose to side with either the Fourth Prince or the Eighth Prince. He boasted that he was comparable to Zhuge Liang, believing that whoever he assisted would be able to conquer the world. Eventually, he chose the Fourth Beile. Nian Gengyao infiltrated the Eighth Prince's mansion as an undercover agent, uncovered evidence of the Eighth Prince's embezzlement, and devised a plan to thwart the Fourteenth Prince, thus facilitating the Fourth Prince to become Emperor Yongzheng later.
