Plot Synopsis

Five years ago, the purchase price of cabbages in Xingfu Village was low, and the villagers lived a hard life. Hao Ren, the richest man in the county town, out of kindness, helped the villagers sell cabbages for free for five years. This year, the market was not good, and the price of cabbages was 20 cents lower. However, the villagers complained about Hao Ren, accusing him of taking kickbacks. Liu Lu, a college-graduate village official, also misunderstood Hao Ren. The angry villagers even injured Hao Ren's mother. Hao Ren was extremely disappointed and decided not to offer help anymore. In the end, the villagers' cabbages rotted in the fields. Only then did they realize their mistakes, but it was already too late.
